INFILTRATION CHAMBERS
INFILTRATION CHAMBERS
Infiltration chamber septic systems temporarily store greywater harvested from sinks/showers/urinals when traditional basins will not suffice. These high-density polyethylene arches can interlock to form continuous drainage areas with much greater storage capacity 'surge' volumes than pipe-in-gravel leach fields. The open base design allows for the unobstructed migration of effluents into the surrounding soil, while remaining largely immune to root infiltration problems.
The harvested greywater is given plenty of oxygen and time to percolate, making these chambers ideal sources of supplemental deep-water irrigation for fruit trees and edible shrubs. Although infiltration chamber septic systems are a little more expensive than gravel leach fields, the savings in labor (they are much easier and faster to install) ultimately offset the costs.
